Perhaps I'm being stupid, but I feel smoking is stupid and that's why I think less of people. How can anyone in their right mind want to smoke such disgusting things.

We all know the dangers of smoking but there's more vain reasons to quit too. For instance, I wondered to myself whether smoking could cause problems with hair loss. As it turn out there is a connection. It seems we don't really 100% know why there's a connection but there certainly seems to something going on.

As study in Taiwan was carried out on 740 men and they looked at many different things such as age, general health and such like including whether they smoked or not. It might scare you to find out that if you smoke more than 20 a day, you have an increased chance of balding.

Basically your hair follicle needs a good supply of oxygen, nutrients, and minerals. Basically smoking has been shown to reduce the circulation of blood around your body. So essentially, smoking stops nutrient-rich blood from getting to your scalp, thus causing your hair to fall out.

Of course, there's the other issue of smoking generally interfering with the health of your body. If your body isn't able to function correctly, you will become ill and hair may well fall out. Generally speaking, smoking just increases the rate at which appear old. So hair falling out along with getting wrinkles is just part of that.

So what can you do to prevent hair loss? Well, what about actually giving up cigarettes? It's not as if there aren't enough quit smoking products on the market for you to try out. There are nicotine patches, gum, hypnosis and all sorts of other things. You owe it to yourself to at least attempt it. You might not be successfull first time around but eventually you'll get there.
